WINE SUPPORT GROUP returns Sat 16 May at Druggists!

From 3pm onwards, we’re pouring wines by the glass from two small producers out of New Zealand’s South Island: Unkel and A Thousand Gods. Per glass at $10, which means you can drink like a fish and still feel like a whale.

Our favourite somm Aleks aka @grapenomad will be around from 7pm to 8.30pm if you want to throw him hard questions, pretend to know what “minerality” means, or just figure out why one wine tastes like fresh lemons while another tastes faintly like a forest floor. Communal tables – so come hang with strangers cse wine not?

About the winery
A Thousand Gods, voted New Zealand’s Best New Winery in 2023 and run by husband-wife team who spent years making wine in Cahors, France before returning to Marlborough to do the exact opposite of what Marlborough became famous for. No shortcuts, no additions, no loud tropical Sauvignon Blanc screaming passionfruit at you from across the room.

Unkel Wines, meanwhile, makes wines that are built more for drinking than flexing. Organic farming, native ferments, minimal meddling.
