OPEN BOOK SERIES: LION DANCE CAFE COOKBOOK LAUNCH [1.15PM-2.30PM]

After making waves in Oakland, California with a James Beard nomination, a Michelin nod, and a menu that somehow blended Singaporean, Chinese, and Italian flavours into uncompromising vegan food, chefs C-Y Chia and Shane Stanbridge have finally relocated to Singapore.

They’re marking the homecoming with the launch of their first cookbook - Authentic, Not Traditional – at Druggists The first print run sold out almost immediately, proving that people are actually willing to read instructions when the food’s that good : )

Join C-Y and Shane alongside food scholar Jenny Dorsey for a completely unscripted chat about food, culture, migration and what “authenticity” even means.

Limited signed copies of the cookbook will be available for purchase onsite. The first print run has already sold out, making this one of the few chances to secure a copy before the second printing arrives.

LION DANCE CAFE KITCHEN SOCIAL [3PM-8PM]

It’s one thing to cook Southeast Asian food in Singapore. It’s another thing entirely to take those flavours to California, secure a Michelin nod and a James Beard nomination, and have an overseas crowd lining up for it.

Now that chefs C-Y Chia and Shane Stanbridge have officially relocated back to Singapore, they’re taking over the Druggists kitchen for one afternoon only.

This isn't your usual nostalgic heritage play. Their menu is a direct reflection of their journey that is bold, unapologetic cooking where Singaporean and Chinese flavours meet California produce and Italian roots. Expect dishes that are intensely savoury, packed with spice, and cooked with the kind of precision that gets the culinary world's attention.

Oh, and the entire menu happens to be plant-based. Not that you’ll notice, because the flavours are doing all the heavy lifting.

And obviously, the bar will be fully stocked with craft beers, cocktails, natural wines, and sodas. Because nobody is surviving a Sunday afternoon on tap water and thoughts.
